MAC ART | Design, Digital PR and Brand Communication
The question is no longer only how to produce good work. It is knowing why the right work should be done.
There was a time when making a good design, preparing a commercial, or producing a striking piece of content required a particular expertise, a team and a serious amount of time. Today much of that work can be done far faster. Technology has advanced, the tools have multiplied, and creative production has opened up to more people. That is an important opportunity for all of us. Easier production does not mean that every piece of work that comes out of it is valuable.
Because being able to do a piece of work is not the same as knowing why it should be done. A brand does not always need more design, more posts or more advertising. Sometimes what it needs is the right question. Who are we speaking to? Why should people choose us? In what way are we truly different from our competitors? Work made before those questions are answered, however impressive it looks, may not add lasting value to the brand.
At MAC ART we have been in this work for more than 30 years. We have lived through many eras of design, advertising and communication. Technology changed, the channels changed, and what clients expect changed. We did not stay outside that change. We renewed how we work, brought new technologies into our process and developed the way we produce. Through all of it we did not change the core of the work: understand the brand, find the right idea and turn that idea into good work.
We are not a large network agency today. We are an agile team whose founder is still in the work, bringing strategy, creative and production to the same table. We speak with our clients directly and try to understand their business and their goals. When needed we revisit the brand strategy, when needed we make a creative commercial, when needed we think through every part of digital communication together. New technologies let us work faster and with more options. We use that possibility to develop better ideas and better projects.
The idea is still very valuable. Strategy, taste, intuition, experience and the ability to ask the right questions are still at the centre of the work. In a period when producing has become this easy, we think they matter even more. What creates the difference is no longer only how the work looks. It is the thinking behind it, the relationship it builds with the brand and the result it creates.
The real opportunity starts there.
We no longer want to settle for an agency model that only answers the requests that come in from clients. We are taking up a way of working that thinks ahead for brands, sees the opportunities, develops new ideas and brings those ideas to life. We call this approach, where strategy, human creativity, technology and data work together, “thinking systems.” What we mean is not a piece of software. It is a way of working that keeps the brand’s development on the agenda.
Good design, a strong visual language, a striking commercial and the right digital communication still matter. We continue to do all of them. What we care about more now is what we make, why we make it and who we make it for. Our aim is not to produce more work for our clients. It is to put better ideas into work that is more accurate and more effective.
We are building MAC ART’s new period on this idea. We are joining our experience with what the new world makes possible, and we keep developing ourselves and the way we work.
Technology can make production easier. Understanding a brand, showing it the right direction and earning a lasting place in people’s minds still requires thinking, intuition and experience.
Producing got easier. Making a difference got harder.
We still believe that making a difference starts with a good idea.
